Commit to Christmas Every Day

What would your world be like if every day was Christmas?

holiday spiritAs you can imagine, we would all experience more

–        Sharing

–        Cooperation

–        Peace

–        Courtesy and kindness

–        Smiles and laughter

–        Joy, and (something everyone craves)

–        Love – true love.

Unfortunately, this aspect of Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or Winter Solstice, etc. affects us once a year and not daily.

But is this spirit of sharing and caring really that limited?

If you and I can find it within ourselves to demonstrate peace, joy, and love for a short period annually, could we not find it within ourselves to allow these great expressions to escape outward more often?

Yes, we can, but only if we want to feel this way!

Why do these wonderful feelings for one another not show up each day of our lives?

The typical person (yes, this includes you) defines his or her life as difficult. We perceive our daily existence as stressful or overwhelming and filled with frustrations and sorrow. This is what we call our ‘reality.’

Yet your life is what you make it.

If your daily existence is hard and a constant struggle to pay bills, or find meaningful work, or deal with jerks then that will be what you attract into your life. But if you define your daily existence as joyful, happy, meaningful, pleasurable, easy, or even fun-filled then this is what your life will be like.

Do you see the opportunity you have?

In case you do not, allow me to clarify. You are a magnet. You attract what you put out. If your daily focus is on sadness, drama, pain, sorrow, misery, or struggle, this is how your life will show up. And if you see that you have a wonderful life filled with peace, cooperation, friendship, and abundance, this is how your life will show up.

May I suggest that you start each day with a personal promise or pledge to yourself to be more loving, generous, peaceful, fun, cooperative, and carefree. I guarantee that your day will be less painful and more wonderful. When you focus on the positive in your life—the love, the accomplishments, the friendships, connections, and the calm—your day will be very enjoyable. And as you enjoy life, those around you will be enjoying theirs. Then each day might just feel like the Christmas spirit we all look forward to.

Maybe the real meaning of Christmas is like the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, sizzle of cooking bacon, or the scent of a sensual perfume. Each of these tells us that something good is about to experienced. This year-end spirit of love and appreciation is an experience we look forward to. Maybe this season is a reminder that we can feel like this 365¼ days a year.

It is worth the effort. So if you like what the holiday season represents: a time for loving and sharing, then please believe that you can recreate this spirit within yourself each day. Can we have Christmas show up every day?

Yes, it can show up, but only when you and I show up with what we want for ourselves and others.
